Dr. Peter Otieno Ochungo

It is with profound sorrow and humble acceptance of God's will that we announce the sudden passing of Dr. Peter Otieno Ochungo, Head ENT surgeon at Makueni County Referral Hospital and CEO and Lead Consultant at Hope Ear Nose and Throat Centre which occurred on 11th July 2026. Dr. Ochungo was the beloved son of Mzee Paul Ochungo and Mama Patricia Ochungo of Simur Sub-location, Ukwala Location, Ugenya Sub-county, Siaya County. He was the devoted husband of Lucy Achieng Alai and a loving father of David Paul, Natalie Patricia, Rosanna Alexa, and Michael Xavier. He was the cherished son-in-law of Mama Judith Alai Opondo. He was a dear brother of Lucy Achieng Ochungo (KPLC), Dr. Pamela Ochungo Mulaku (TUK). and Mark Onyango Ochungo; brother-in-law of Jacob Otieno, Eng. Winston Mulaku (Ingerop International), Darkine Akinyi, Mary Omondi Olute, Celine Alai, Robert Alai, Cleophas Alai, Edwin Alai and Thaddeus Alai. He was a beloved cousin of Mwalimu Fred Odhiambo, Chrispine Ooko, Maurice Otieno, Boniface Onyango, Yvonne Othieno, Millicent Omondi, Frederick Olute, Michael Omondi, Alex Omondi, Charles Omondi Olute among many others, and a cherished nephew of the late Charles Omondi, the late James Othieno, Charles Juma, Thomas Juma, The Oguyas, and many others. He was also a loving uncle of Rosemary, Lisa, Gina, Hapi, Imani, Nathan, Emmanuel, Felicity Amor and many more whose lives he touched with love, wisdom, and kindness. Family and friends are meeting daily for prayers at Dr. Ochungo's residence, Marigold Residency, Lang'ata. A requiem mass for the late Dr. Peter Ochung'o will be held at Don Bosco Shrine, Upper Hill on Wednesday 29th July 2026 at 2 pm. The cortege will leave Montezuma Funeral Home, Nairobi on Friday 31 July 2026 for an overnight vigil at Mzee Ochung'o's homestead; thereafter burial on 1st August 2026 at Mzee Ochung'o's home in Simur sublocation, Ukwala location, Ugenya subcounty, Siaya county.
